Default SOS... my computer froze on me!

SOS!!!

I just sank a juicy large merchant and when I was going to take a screenshot, the screen froze.
This is the first time this happened while playing SH3+GWX2.1 but never while playing stock

My specs:
Pentium 4 2.0GHz
1048 RAM
GeForce FX5500 256mb
Seagate ST380021A 55Gb
plus I live in the tropics without any air conditioning.

Any help is appreciated. Thx!

check your swap file.. check the disk for errors. It sounds like the size of the mod is thrashing your hard drive. Windows does a terrible job at keeping files orgnized so defrag every couple weeks

Yep it does sound like a hard drive error it might be overheating working so hard you may need a desk fan to blow some cool air around it :hmm:

great suggestion...I was also thinking that it might not be a bad idea to clean the heat sink for the cpu and apply new thermal past too (if yours uses thermal paste instead of the lil sticky pad)

Thanks for all the help, just one more thing:

Is it advisable to open the side panel and let a desk fan through.
OR
DIY the side panel and cut a hole in it and sticking a 12 V fan.

It gets hot around here, up to above 95°F!

Again thanks!

Cricky no wonder you have problems if you have a strong power supply there are extra cooling fans the can be fitted to the casing of you computor mine has three running but in your case you need to also cool the air before it enters the box apart from sitting in the fridge and playing it Hmmmm taking the side casing off
this would be good if there is no possible way somthing might go it the computor and short it out I.E. a fly landing on the motherboard in the wrong place and bang... maybe removing the side casing and cutting a bigger slot and then fixing in place some meshing this might allow the desk fan's air to circulate into your machine :hmm:

You would laugh at my tower...I have around four fans in the chassy and one in the power supply. There are also 2 on my x1950 video card. This thing sounds like a jet plane and you can here it outside my house when its running. Having said that I built her myself, but shell be six years old this fall. Im looking into building a new top of the line system after christmas. Would you believe that I actiually play SH3 and Rainbow Six Vegas with all the details cranked up on this machine? Its a 1.6ghz athlon overclocked to 1.9., 200gig harddrive with 1.5 gigs of ram. The best thing I ever did for this machine was strip all the covers off it (its just a aluminum frame now) and put a volcano 12 fan on the CPU...no more heat problems
