no career file

i wanted to change some things in my career by editing the files. ive read many posts and they say to edit the career file. ive searched everywhere and i dont seem to have one. im overlooking something apparently. ive been trying to edit things for days now, for example speed on my sub, and nothing happened. im completely lost. will someone more capable please help.
