F1 officially returns to the PC

Quote:
Formula One is to have its first official computer game in more than two years next season following the capture of a new official licencing deal with British gaming company Codemasters, autosport.com can reveal.
From this article out this Friday morning: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/67228

Will Codemasters make a real hash of it or can they deliver the goods? :hmm:

My wish would have been GP5 courtesy of Geoff Crammond/Microprose days but that's just living in the past.

There is GTR2.

there are more than 200 tracks for download, the vast majority of them being very well done.

There are many F1 tracks of the present and past.

There are some of them converted from GP4.

There are league mods.

The vast number of tracks and the also plenty availabnle mods are what gives GTR2 the edge over rFactor, imo.

So, is this F1 GAME by codemasters even needed? Don't think so.

Heck, most sims and games today are not needed, and just show old stuff in newer clothings - if even that.

Kon, both Australian F1 tracks of the past 15 years, Melbourne AND Adelaide, are available for GRT2, in very good visual quality and stunning detail. Both are much fun, btw.

GTR2, Richard burns Rally, Nascar 2003 season - and your collection of race sim must-haves is complete. For the orginal indea and the entertaining fun-factor, Test Drive Unlimited also gets mentioned. It's not a sim, but the driving model is much better and makes more fun than the critics and sceptics say - definitely worth the 12-15 euros it costs today.

What ?! It just can't be complete without Sierra's Grand Prix Legends and its tons of mods
I don't see a point to consider GPL anymore these days, with the three candidates I listed being available. Before these three - yes, GPL would have had to be mentioned, too. But imo that is history now.

Thanks mate. I have GTR2 but haven't really played it that much owing to the fact that I need a new wheel. Probably will splurge on the Logitech G25 wheel and pedals. I used to play GP4 with the season mods that have been released over the years.

Thanks to for the heads up on the Melbourne and Adelaide tracks. Went to the Adelaide GP when I lived there in 1989 and 1990. Fantastic events. Been to Melbourne aswell but have fonder memories of Adelaide. Planning to go to Spa or Monza this year with my wifes brothers.

By the way right now I'm spending my lunch break watching the live streaming coverage on the ITV website of the second practice session. My man Webber lost it early on and put te RB4 into the wall around turn 6. Looks like the boys in the RB garage will be having a late night putting the front of that car back together.

All that you need: http://www.nogripracing.com/files.php?subcat=46 . I personally love to hotlap on the Nuremberg ring. The GP4->rFacor->GTR2 conversion of Monacco also is somewhere.

And if you get yourself the G25, don't tell me, it just makes my face turning white. I still drive with a Siderwinder FFB wheel. Which is very nice, btw.

BTW, I am about to get Heathrow for FS9 - I think you recognize the place...? Here you can see what the T5 will look like, once they are done.

Nice shots of LHR.The only thing missing is the BA 777 that now has a fence around it and the fin off.

Yep, it's still there with the tail chopped off.

If you p-mail me your adress, I could send you my complete track installation (collector's edition ) on four CDs. You just paste and copy the folder into your GTR2 installation folder, defrag - and then have 140 additional tracks, more or less, without needing to finetune any of them (what needs to be done with a few of them).

If somebody else also wants it this way, it then will be your turn to answer that request, and next will be his turn, and so on.

I am not using any additional mods, and am not interested to do so, so on sending mods I must pass.
