Default Iran Fires Space Rocket

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/...ket/index.html

Ok...some people are claiming it's to hide their ballistic missiles. Well...rocket into space, ballistic missile...what's the difference? I know that the pioneers of our rocket program used ballistic missiles for space.

And just by chance, the satelite will be powered by a mixture of enriched plutonium and explosives. It's not their fault that the satelite accidentally went off course and hit Washington.

I particularly like the comment at the end. This could be a cover up to its ballistic missile program! Well duh, I could have told you that without even doing research.

You know, if they are actually stupid enough to do it, the Iranians *might* get one nuke onto US soil. But by the time the US gets done with a counter-strike, Iran would look like an ash tray...

What would be worrying me is........I'm not sure the leadership over in Iran are necessarily contemplating anything with regards to retaliation. :hmm:

We already have slavery. I'm a California taxpayer. I pay huge State income taxes, and property taxes that are outrageous. You should see how much of this goes to entitlement spending, to pay for things that people should be doing to take care of themselves.

Ya know Jim, with all the "fear mongering pablum" that the spin doctors in DC put out, I honestly don't know either. If the Iranians want to put satellites in orbit, good for them. The US has been spying by way of satellite technolgy since the early 60's. Heck, ever wonder how the US progressed so rapidly into space? I'm pretty sure it wasn't all about 'ol JFK giving his "Go US GO! to the Moon by the end of the decade" speech.

The "American Century" is over folks. Now it's time to let the other kids on the block play too...

The problem is, alot of this technical ability is not homegrown. The U.S. and Russia has exported alot of this know-how. And in Clinton's case, quite dangerously.

Maybe that is the Democrat's view. But I'll believe it when I see it. The fact that the USA has two rovers conducting scientific research on Mars, The Cassini space probe currently in Saturn's sphere of influence, a probe that just did scientific research on it's flyby of Mercury, two deep space probes that are currently working their way out of the solar system that were launched in the 70's, the largest, most robust, and most capable satellite constellations (government-military/research/civil), and the manned program continues with possible lunar and manned Mars missions upcoming in a couple of decades or so. Plus our involvment with the ISS which is a co-leadership role with Russia. And much more. No nation on planet Earth is doing as much in space as the USA. The American Century is still in progress chap.

C'mon, we're the only country that ever used a nuclear weapon in a conflict (as a statement of fact, all rationales aside). My belief is that until the world either completely disarms itself voluntarily, the "have nots" will always want what the "haves" have... (sounds funny but you know what I mean). So, the field is going to level itself one way of the other... in the open, or covertly.

I mean really, who do we think we are telling Iran to stand down on it's nuclear program because some paranoid in the White House fears Muslims? Would the US have let, say China or Russia dictate those kinds of terms to us while we developed our nuclear capabilities? I think not. Criminy, we already had and USED the Bomb...

Besides, we had to stay ahead of the Bear and the Red Threat in those days to insure an equitable nuclear footing. Right? Wasn't that our mantra, Defeat the Commies?

So do you think that Iran sees the West as any less of a threat?

Concerning space exploration: There is no dispute that the US continues to lead the way into space. Of course, there won't be any humanitarian aspects. Nope, we'll find new ways of exploiting space and creating new manufacturing methods to feed the capitalist machine. I'm not being cynical... The world would eventually reap the benefits from the US space program, but *after* we squeeze every last drop of profit out of it first.

What disturbs me is that we'll spend BIG $$$ on getting to the ISS, but we don't on getting our less fortunate citizens into affordable housing and medical care. The private sector seems to be the caretakers in that arena...
