Default [REQ] Mod for TBT Lens Cap Closure on Diving

After seeing what Anvart was able to do with restoring the animation of the periscopes raising and lowering in the interior views that was broken with the patch, I was hoping that he or one of our other modding gurus could tackle this thing that's been bugging me since it hasn't worked ever since Patch 1.3*

Now, when you dive your boat, the TBT lens caps are stuck open, like this:

While watching Run Silent Run Deep again last night, I was reminded that these caps were supposed to be closed before diving (actually, I always thought they removed the TBT and took it below when they dived, but in RSRD they were trying to do a speed dive drill to set up their bow shot on Bungo Pete so I guess they didn't want to take the time to fool with removing the TBT for those dives). So, can someone fix this so that the TBT lens caps are closed before you leave the bridge on a dive?

With ROW, I find myself topside a lot more and staying up till the very last seconds as the boat goes under, and seeing these lens caps still open like this is a real immersion killer for me and, I'm, sure, lots of others here too

*Of course, this hasn't worked ever since 1.0 either - what were the Devs thinking on this

IIRC the earlier TBT binoculars had to be removed and replaced in a socket on the conning tower when diving and conducting surfacs attacks. Later a much more durable permanent TBT sight that was closed up before diving

LOL - if I only had the skills, experience and 3D modelling software to think about trying this, I would give it a shot. Thanks for the response though - maybe it will provide the inspiration for someone around here with all three of those things to take a stab at this.

Maybe it could even be triggered by a keyboard command, so I could assign a voice command to it with SH4Speech - "Secure TBT" and Bingo! - caps closed

Maybe it would be possible to trigger the TBT to disappear completely with that command, so the early war removal of the TBT and taking it below could be simulated? Then later in the war, just the caps could be closed. You could install them by JSGME as you reached the right point in your career. Lots of possibilities here

All in your hands ...
Download programs also study them...
All modders have passed this way...

You can use simple (but not beautiful ...) method ... to make TBT invisible under water ...

Goodluck!

Hmmm - would this method kick in only after the sub was fully submerged? I'd need it to make the TBT go away before the bridge was actually underwater, in order to do what I'm looking for here (would want to see it gone before leaving the bridge).

Also, any suggestions as to good 3D programs to download that could be used for this stuff? The ones I remember seeing people talk about seem to be pretty expensive commercial ones (though I haven't paid that much attention to those posts since they were way over my head), but I'd need to use some freebie while I was trying to learn about this stuff.

Simple (but not good - my opinion): Wings 3D, Blender (http://www.blender.org), Anim8or (http://www.Anim8or.com)...
Or download 3DSMax 9.0 SP2 (with c...) somewhere ...
