Default Newbie Questions about radio/radar

I just started playing this week and had a couple of issues I was hoping people could help out with. I have updated my game with the 1.3 patch.

1. Radio/Phonograph - I have tried to use this when surfaced and I never receive any bulletins/news/music etc. I am tuned to the Washington station but still never hear anything except game music. I tried changing the frequency but it never stops on any station. Even when docked at Pearl, nothing comes on my radio. I used the Captain Midnight Mod but again I can't tune to any station and don't hear anything. Am I doing something wrong?

2. When on patrol, I find that I cannot turn on my radar or sonor . When at the station, I click on the on and off switch and nothing happens or I can't click on the icon to turn on the radar on the bottom of the screen as it is not highlighted. I still get info about sonor and radar contacts.

Thanks in advance for peoples time and help. My apologies if these issues have been previously addressed. I searched for other similar posts and did not see these issues addressed.

allo,

I have no clue do you phonograph/radio question .. I rarely if ever use them.

As for the sonar/dar, Sonar is always on, you cannot change it on or off.. to maniupulate the direction you are listening to.. use Home or End keys to rotate the head. As for radar, what sub/time period are you using? Perhaps you dont have radar equipped to your sub? Remember, only the serface search radar can be maniupulated, Air Search automatically searchs for and tracks aerial targets.

Hope this helps to an extent

I use Capt Midnights mod and it works fine for me. Perhaps you did not install it correctly. Recheck you have it set up correctly. Check out the readme with it and follow the instructions to the letter. See how it goes.

Sonar is always on no matter what submarine you are in. Radar will only work if the year of the submarine had it available. For some reason the devs let you go to the radar station even if it did not exist for the year you are playing. Strange way to handle it but it is what it is.

Have a look at this thread and my response regarding the radio:

Welcome to SUBSIM

@ Krauter, to bad you do not use the grammaphone\radio, adds to the experience, plus there are some great Radio Mods, including the CBS one.
