News on next SBP upgrade

I missed that some details on the planned content for the next major upgrade has been given already in late May. I quote eSim'S technical director from the ITEC2012 thread at the eSim boards:

I guess it's only fair to summarize what we've been showing - basically, we now have more than just two parties per scenario, with e.g. Green and Purple being neutral to everybody. You can have unarmed noncombatants and irregular fighters. And Grannies with RPGs (I can already see where this is going to be heading...). You can have some units navigate autonomously, either road-bound or off-road. You can have civilian-looking irregular fighters that may carry a concealed weapon until a certain condition is true, and who may conceal it again later on some other condition.
You can now script mounting and dismounting of troops. You can now script recovery vehicles to tow away immobilized units without direct human interference.

I'm quite certain that this will not be all. Consider it to be a first glimpse at some new things to come.


From additional words read here and there I take it that the next major release will arrive probably in 1st quarter 2013, or around springtime. The previously planned midstream update this late summer or so, is cancelled due to short time, and will be included in the next major release.

scary stuff with the new parties and the concealable weapons guys. could you imagine driving down a street when you suddenly have an RPG flying at your face?!
adds a new level of realism and something I can't wait to get!

In a random reply, it was revealed that the next major upgrade has an eyed release date of around June 2013.

I read between the lines of another random comment of eSim, and see the chance that the next update will bring a major graphics engine replacement.

That is, as always, no official info, but just me.
