Default been away a while, what's new in mods/patches?

Hi all,

Been away for quite a while and did other games. Decided to return to good old Silent Hunter while waiting for SHIV.
Can anybody tell me what the developments are? When I left ther was SH3 commander, some mods, the JSGME modchanger and Improved U_boat 1.02.
So I decided to install from scratch. In what order do I install to get it right?

thnx in advance
Marcus

Yes, the 1.4b patch is the latest for SH3. Popular mods to be using are Grey Wolves 1.1 (and we are all eagerly awaiting the next version of it, GWX or Grey Wolves Expansion) or NYGM (not sure of the version of it, as I don't use it) and SH3 Commander and JSGME

This is probably the best place for you to find what you're looking for.

The mods listed are pretty much in order as far as popularity and importance.

Well, thx thusfar guys. Are there mods which are obsolete by now due to 1.4b and GreyWolves? And which are necessary (I know, depends on own choice, but all those instrument and shipmods are included somewhere, or not?)
thx

Just download GW and sail away! No fuss, no muss. Make sure you have a clean install of SH3 and the 1.4b patch then add the GW

You probably want one of the supermods which include many of the little mods as you've suggested. Go to the link that I gave you and you'll find what you're looking for.

Am I correct in thinking that Greywolves contains a few mods but the remainder of all the other enhancemants in mods, e.g. sky, merchants, compass, uniforms etc. are still not included?
Second Q is what the relation with RUb and Greywolves is. Can it used together or can i install RUb and then Greywolves?

The new supermods use Rub as a base so no need to install it.

Many here believe that GW is what SH3 should have been when released. GW has a very good balance of realism + eye candy. All the options you listed are included, except uniforms which there are many choices to use.

NYGM - Has strived to recreate the life of a U-Boat captain. To that end realism is the main goal with this mod.

U-Boat War Ace - Has a balance of realism + eye candy + Historical events added.

These mods contain fixes/addons etc that normally would see you have Rub + 20/30 extra mods just to get it the way you like it.

These are complete packages.
