It's a shame, but after many patrols I don't know how to aim torpedoes manually at different parts of ships.
I always lock ship in periscope or UZO before launch torpedo, but crosshair is placed at centre of the ship. Could you explain it or point good links? |

hi jaxa,
Ill be brief: 1. lock the ship on your periscope (crosshairs should be on its centre) 2. swich TDC to manual and input the correct distance, AOB, speed, etc 3. switch TDC back to auto 4. open tubes 5. just before firing confirm range once more 6. unlock scope 7. move crosshairs to the desired point of impact 8. FIRE! Good luck!

You don't have to switch back to auto, you can update the periscope bearing by clicking the checkmark on the datatpad while staying in full manual TDC.
So it's just a matter of setting up the TDC as the above post says, then aiming the periscope, click the checkmark to update the bearing and fire. If using auto-targeting just don't lock the scope, simple as that.

Something else you can do:
A slow ship more than a couple thousand m away might take a minute or more moving from one gyro angle number to another. At 03:43 it's at 340 At 03:44 it's still at 340 So watch that. Shooting right when the gyro angle changes will be the front of the boat. Shooting just before the angle changes again, the back. I often measure how long it takes to go from say 340 to 341. And then will shoot at the halfway point of this time, hoping for a dead center hit. (Auto, of course.)
