Forum Blues

Have played computer games since way back when. Worked on computers using CPM and 12" floppies. Been in the computing industry and seen all changes. Now I'm getting forum blues.
When forums first started it was a nightmare of childish ego's banging their virtual heads against virtual walls. All except the sim games, here where like-minded people a tad older than the action gamer crowd conversed and helped each other and noobs alike.
Now after a break from SHIII and coming from the Paradox Forums (Playing HOI II) where the creaters of certain mods are flaming each other and hijacking threads for their egotistical rants, I find the same here.
What gives. Aren't we supposed to be creating a space to enrich the experience of the game. Both mods (here especially) are built from the work of many users.

Each and every mod suits some people and not others. I had my own mod slowly being built up on what I liked. I think I will continue in that vein.

My Tastes:
Rub Mod. Took too much away.
Grey Wolves. Kinda on the same lines as I was going but way too much. Get to many framrate drops.
NYMOD. Haven't tried it.

So will hack and keep the best bit's. Even though it is time consuming.

Each and every mod deserves a special thankyou.

Welcome to my nightmare. I've been doing that same thing since I only took selected files from the first RUB.

I was posting here last night & while I was ending off the post the damn computer just resets itself! Stuffit I said & went to bed!

Reminising the good old days of CP/M, Z80 machine language programing (Rodney Zaks) & my pride and joy, a MKII Exidy Sorcerer computer! I had that hotted up to 56k on board with 64k of paged memory in 2 blocks!! wow!!:rotfl: Well it was a big deal then, had a lot of fun making our own add-on boards for things like extra ports, A-D & D-A converters, 8" Floppy controllers (HD to 1.8meg). I even ripped the guts out of a mainframe train printer (large spinning print roller) and used a modified MK1 Sorcerer to run the whole thing, worked well, got it going 50% faster, you should have heard the racket!!:rotfl: I'm glad I lived through those pioneering days and I do miss them, not worth building the things anymore, you could build something at a cost of say $100 but could buy off the shelf for $15, and VLSI devices make it almost impossable as well (my sight aint what it used to be!!)
There I've rambled on enough I think!
Cheers.
