Default Collision in Norway

An interesting occurrence takes place every time I leave Bergen head east and then north instead of following the fjord south. Not far north my sub would end up in a collision.

The same would happen when returning to Bergen along that route. The end was very quick so I had no time to find out what I had hit. I decided to follow the boat using external view to see if it there was anything there. I could see nothing except a spectacular explosion ending my career.

Anyone had this before. I'm running version 1.45b and the year is 1944. Perhaps some of you experts could explain it. Mines? A sunken ship? Water too shallow?

I think it`s mines or subnets. You can only sail in one fjord, the others are mined.

Definitly mines. Try using Harbour Traffic. It has draggable maps of all Axis harbors incliding the positioning of mines / subnets.

Or use SH3Gen. Then the mines and nets appear in your F5 map mode.

Checked it out. You were right. Anti-sub nets were the problem. Gave me a bit of a shock to find minefields nearby as well

I recently had something like this happen to me also...although I was not near Norway.....I had submerged to elude a couple of destroyers at nite and was at about a hundred and twenty meters....every thing was fine...the destroyers off in another direction trying to locate me with no luck....I then saved the game and went to bed.....the next nite upon reloading ....after it initializes...it says there had been a collision with heavy flooding...and thus ends my career....WTF??? I reloaded it and when it initialized I hit topside for a quick look...not a destroyer in range...although I saw three fairly large explosions.....probably my boat......What are mines doing at a hundred meters ...and nowhere near a port?????
