Windows XP Run Error with SH II

Have not played in a year or so, and recently built a new system.
The application installed with no errors, but when I try to run it, I
get the following error:

Fri Sep 21 09:05:28 2001
Error -1 [m_pCompass == 0]
DirectX code: "Unrecognized error: 0xffffffff"
C:\Devel\SH2\Sim\Sources\CSlidingNav.cpp
Line 88

I am running XP sp2 with a P4 3GHz CPU and 2 GB of RAM.

Any thoughts?
