Uplay playing Up

For several days now not been able to open the game due to UPLAY asking me to log in, when I do it STILL won,t let me in even though I,ve used the disable option. Ubisoft gave me a Phone number but I must have been at the bottom of the queue even after waiting quite a while and I have other things to do, so will try again ,I suppose us Subbers are stuck with everyone else until Uplay fixes the glitch OR is there a way to get round using UPLAY to OPEN the game ( If UPLAY was a ship ,she,d be on the Bottom by now) can any skipper solve the problem ?

Hey Hardigen

Do you start uplay in offline mode or?
You must be in online mode to login uplay the first time

Hi Hardigen
You do not state what type of installation you have.
It is possible you may have a corrupted file in your game launcher.
If your game launcher is in the Program File (x86) folder you can uninstall it from the Control Panel Program and Features and install this genuine one that can be installed on any drive and in any folder.

Run A Registry Cleaner after uninstalling and then re-boot your system.

There is also a bug that occurs sometimes mentioning there is no internet connection.
This can be overcome by pressing the Esc Key.

The game was downloaded from a disc, and I clicked the play offline option But I must be on line. I will download the SH5 Game Launcher ,Peter, but will try again to get in contact with them and see what the problem is . I like how I,ve got it now with TDWs mods installed but if I,ve got to uninstall ,I,m gonna Modify it with WoS mega Mod which I,ve got. I,ve read in the Forum its a great Mod, also I have a C Cleaner and will follow your instructions. I,m not too happy relying on Uplay for my enjoyment if this keeps on happening. Will let you know how I get on , Thanks to both of you for your concern H

i have the same problem. tried all that, uninstall cclean restart different uplay exe and still same problem. funny that new exe just updated to the 23.0 version. mine is crashing on load. it gets halfway thru loading, the red bar goes halfway across, and then it returns me back to the main uplay "play button" game screen where i started from. i am lost on how to fix this, or what the problem is and uplay support techs are no help. i am xp sp3 all drivers are up to date.

I,m gonna try your first option ,Peter can,t find Ubisoft Game launcher in the Control panel ,Uninstall and Programs and Features but can find it in program(x86) \ ubisoft file .Question :- Does the game launcher also Launches SH3 and SH4 which I play also ? .And will it effect those if I replace the Launcher ?

Hi Hardigen
The game launcher should be showing as an installed application in the Control Panels Program and Features.
Program and Features is listed in A to Z format so look for 1 word > Uplay.
SH3, SH4 and SH5 are totally independent of each other.

im pretty convinced the problem is with the new installer v23.0.0.4973. is there somewhere to get an older version of the installer. the one that worked last for me wsa dated on 12/15/15 when i last downloaded it. not sure what version it was but i am pretty sure it did not ask for user info like administrator to sign in to start the game. this new installer was created 10/15/16. the only reason i can figure for this new version was windows 10. i am on windows xp on this machine and it worked fine a few months ago before i deleted it.

2015 IIRC is when the game launcher went over from Ubisoft to Uplay.
Since then there has been problems.

You do not.
The application only needs to be changed to work as administrator once.
Once an application has administrator rights it has has a higher priority setting with a much lower chance of problems happening.

I,ve found Uplay as you said ,thanks Peter,have downloaded the Ubisoft game launcher. will now uninstall from the program and features and also delete the game Launcher in the Program(x86) files in Ubisoft folder .I tried the RUN as ADMIN but it did,nt work for me. Its just like Subfinder the Red bar goes across but instead of opening the game THE log in box appears .Went on Ubisoft web site which I,m able to log in to, and it recognizes I,m supposed to be playing offline but is unable to help . Tried Uplay web site and it does,nt recognise my email address. So I,m sure their server has gone down,and that's the reason why I and maybe a lot of others cannot play. will keep you in formed cheers H

Uninstalling from Programs and Features will automatically remove the game launcher from the Program File (x86) folder.
It will leave a Ubisoft folder behind.
Delete this folder.
Remember to run the registry cleaner and reboot your system before installing the new one.
Do not install the new game launcher in the Program File (x86) folder.
You will find 2 .exe application in the Ubisoft/ Game Launcher folder.
It is the first one you should be able to run as an administrator after installing.
You must only highlight the .exe and right click on it and go to properties and then select compatibility.

Thanks for info Peter , The Ubisoft file in the Program (x86) Folder also contains SH3 and SH4 , so those will have to be removed too I take it. This Program (x86) Folder can cause a bit of trouble also Tried to install some extra shipping in SH3 but was refused permission, some of the skippers on SUBSIM said it could be this Program (x86) that's stopping it . If I get into difficulties will let you know, I would,nt say I,m the best at dealing with Programs etc . Thx for your Help H

i tried downloading a older version of uplay installer it worked but when i ran it it automatically went to update to the newest version. so no success there. i did several chats with uplay: https://support.ubi.com/en-US if you sign in there is an option to do a chat with tech support. i ran them out of things to try. they last said they would get back to me by email when they have a fix. didnt give a eta. i tried the stuff i learned here too thanks for your help. i know some things i didnt before. thanks. if you want some more infor on what we tried i can give some more detail if you need. thanks for the help.
