Default modding with STEAM help please

I am not able to understand how and IF is possible to mod a steam SH5 version.

The Berbster list is not complete:
"You can use TDW’Generic File Patcher with STEAM see my Tutorial Post #125"

the pb is there is no post 125 in the list.

can someone help me to understand what I have to do (TDW patcher or JSGME program?)

I have tried to patch SH5 by TDW but a SH5.exe file error occurred (wrong version...??)

thx for your help.

sorry but I am a NOOB in the game and in patching in general

Welcome to subsim, eka. Yes, I see you are NOOBIE.
Please only create one thread for the same topic. We are all volunteers here, just give us time to answer.

Same relevant posting

Have you read this thread concerning steam and TDW generic patcher.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=214687

Generic patcher is not a MOD by itself until you make and save changes to it. There is a way to make the generic patcher a true mod after saving the personalized changes you make to it. You can mod it into the game with JSGME after the changes you decide to make and save. By then ,all that is needed is a newly created JSGME folder structure with the modified files from the TDW generic patcher.

Hi Mike,

yes I have red it. There r so many thread u can drown in them :-)

Sorry for my double thread, in fact I have to reply to existing one :-/

I have also seen this one: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...6&postcount=12

If I am right, are u telling me that I can MOD the steam game only using JSGME and choosing the Mods I like?

I don't need to change the steam SH5.exe file anymore?

sorry for the stupid question but I have never "modded" a game and with steam everything is so crazy!

thx for your help

Never a stupid question. We are learners here, too. I do not use STEAM personally.

To modify the steam SH5.exe file, you will have to follow the information in the link you wrote about plus the one I provided in a previous post. In a NON-STEAM version of the game which I have, I had to modify the sh5.exe file plus 4-5 others (IIRC.) if I remember correctly.

I think you are mixing up the term MOD with the TDW patcher. Mods are modifications that are enabled by JSGME since it moves file and folder structures temporary. (Loading and saving mod profiles is what JSGME calls it.) Did you read any JSGME documentation yet? If not, click on my signature link at the bottom of my post.

I am still trying to undestand how to "change" SH5.exe file because finally I understand that in any case u have to do it...

well, let's try the SH5.exe procedure steam version and let's see!

in any case thank you very much for the guide lines

cheers
