CFS2 Question

Hello,
I recently got a new computer, windows 8.1
I installed CFS2 and it ran fine after playing with the graphics settings. but when I went to use any add-on aircraft, it would crash. After experimenting a bit, I realized that it only crashes when i use the 2D cockpit view in an add-on aircraft. Does anybody know of a fix to this? Even if somebody could just tell me how to change the default view it would be appreciated, as I rarely use the 2D cockpit anyway.
