Default Silentotto CTD hunt.

Hey all,


Since last two days made clear that RSD has little to do with the crashes some of us experience when starting new campaigns with silentotto, and the fact that we have been polluting multiple topics with random thoughts and bughunting, I thought it would be a good thing to start a new topic, bundle what we know, and go from there in the hunt for this bug.


Spreadsheet we where using with CTD campaings.

As we can see right there, the issue is not RSD related. It was present pre-RSD and only gets worse with RSD installed.

In order to create a baseline, testing will continue with this baselist:

In any case, RSD is designed over EUF + NewUIs (especially the former), and OHII is also a prerequisite because the problem shows up in some campaigns, but not in all of them. Summing up, a minum testing configuration could be:

EUF + patch_1 + patch_1_hotfix ( + sober's patch_1 available by date)
Open Horizons
(New UI's)
RSD

I'm strongly tempted to add DynEnv in there as well .. should be compatible non ?

- Problem for me and mikemike47 has to do with introducing FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith into our list. If we remove that, game runs normal. Please confirm mikemike47
- Problem is present in sober's list. Asked sober for confirmation in his topic. Will add a link to here with updated info. Please confirm sober
- Problem is NOT present in minimal modlist, as suggested by gap, and tested by me and as can be seen in the used spreadsheet.
- Problem is NOT present in minimal modlist + FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith.
- Problem is NOT present in minimal modlist + FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith + R.S.D. - Reworked Submarine Damage v5.3 by vdr1981

From this we can probably deduce a number of things:

1. The difference between the minimal modlist and sober's or mikemike47's list contains the cause for this issue.
2. Given the forlast test scenario, it's unlikely to be caused by FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith itself.
3. Given the last test scenario, and the above listed conflicts in JSGME .. coupled to the fact that not all campaigns where CTD-ing, my guess would be to look in the <location>.sim files for the issue .. changed by TDW FX Fix for Sobers chimney smoke .. so I will try to add that next, and see what happens.

Ok, I'll too try the silentotto campaign start soon, I'm not yet using RSD. What campaigns cause the CTD's, where should I focus, Battle of Mediterranean?

PS. There should be a prize to the victorious CTD hunter

It seems that the issue is not related to any of the above mods. Sortof unsure how to proceed now. I guess I'll start adding stuff by hand till I CTD again or something :/

Sure, will do. Loading Monsun gruppe .... is this normal ? They audibly crash into eachother for a while intill they find their spots ....

Retested the CTD campaigns, works fine with this list. Will add RSD now, 5.3 .. starting to doubt it has anything to do with the mods, and more and more believe volodya hit the nail on his head with 'just too much to coope for sh5' ..

1st and second post updated .. I'm off for a bit, will check back later for more testing and working replies into the first post.

I'll leave it to the pro's to comment first now .. I can think of 500 logical paths to follow from here, but I rather have someone with more knowledge on the subject comment first.

Also, mike, please confirm that removing FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith and corresponding torpedo mod from your list fixes the CTD issue.

Great job Plj! I'm especially interested in combination Minimum list+ FXU 0.0.22 and Minimum list+ FXU 0.0.22 + R.S.D. v5.3.

The first one you ask has been tested. No issues with minimum + FX Update.
I'll test the other one later today .. or someone else could. List is in second post. Beware that I renamed a folder to not incorporate a #.
