Welcome to Subsim

Go to .....SH3\data\cfg folder

Locate basic.cfg

Open the basic.cfg file with notepad

Use the function tool CTRL-F to locate [TORPEDO_TYPE9];T XI (G7es)

You will get something like this
[TORPEDO_TYPE9];T XI (G7es) – Zaunkφnig II
Idx=9
Year=1944 ---> change to 1939
Month=7
PrototypeYear=1943 --> change to 1939
PrototypeMonth=11 --> change to 10
Renown=1000 ---> change the value to your liking

Hope that helped

Year=1939
Month=7
PrototypeYear=1939
PrototypeMonth=10
Renown=100

Just changing the availability date for something doesn't make it appear.

For example, the default torpedo load-out is scripted by boat type and year in [SUBMARINE_AMMO#]:boat type in /data/Cfg/Basic.cfg

This example is for a type VIIB in 1939:

[SUBMARINE_AMMO2]; VIIB
Type=1
Version=0
ForeTubes=4
AftTubes=1
ForeResIntern=4
ForeResExtern=1
ForeResExtra=2
AftResIntern=1
AftResExtern=1
ShellSlots=10
NbYears=7
Renown=3
SNK_MASK=NSS_Uboattype7_SNK_mask
Year0=1939
ForeTube00=0 ;T1
ForeTube01=0
ForeTube02=0
ForeTube03=0
ForeResIntern00=0
ForeResIntern01=0
ForeResIntern02=0
ForeResIntern03=0
ForeResExtern00=0
ForeResExtra00=0
ForeResExtra01=0
AftTubes00=0
AftResIntern00=0
AftResExtern00=0
Z01_00=3 ; VIIB/1
M01_00=1
A01_00=8
SuperCharger_00=1260; GWX V2.1: was -1, so this boat now has GW turbos by default
Snorkel_00=-1
Batteries_00=1265
AftBatteries_00=1265
Hydrophone_00=1270
Sonar_00=-1
Radar_00=-1
RadarWarningReceiver_00=-1
Decoy_Launcher_00=-1
SonarCoatings_00=-1
RadarCoatings_00=-1
Renown0=2500

You would have to change the appropriate numbers in the red script

However, I don't know the correct codes to be used. Someone else here may know - probably one of the GWX modders.

Maybe you didn't save the changes in basic.cfg.

Doesn't the torpedo show up in the ammunition screen?

I changed and saved it in basic.cfg. - using notepad. When I went out and back again the change was there.

No it doesn't - not under torpedoes, anyway.

I suspected something like that but like you I don't know what to change. OTH, Danny didn't seem to have to do this - ref. his earlier posting.

I'm using a Type IXB - 1940.

Thank you, VonHarris, any idea on how and/or where this should eventually be posted under the Type IXB specifications (in the .cfg file)...? I do not want to experiment on this as I have just had my game refurbished after many months of down-time.

I have done some experimenting, anyway........

There is something strange here. When I change datas in the basic.cfg file and close it, the changes are still there when I open it again.

However, when I start the game the changes are not reflected in the torpedo loading or selection category. Going back to the basic.cfg file it shows the original datas. With other words, they have been changed back.

Could this be because the actual boat type - IXB - is alredy in a campaign?

I have changed the torpedo ready dates and have also changed the start-up torpedo load-out in the various tubes with some torpedos type 9 (the Zaunkønig II). To no avail. It always goes back to the original.

I use SH3 Commander.

What I am about to propose is a rather crude solution but it works.

In the SH3Commander folder of your installation there is a folder called BACKUP.

Locate the cfg folder in there and open it.
Copy the basic.cfg of your SH3 data folder in there.

And use the Autp Rollback feature of the SH3 Commander

I hope I helped.

Thank you! I am not sure if I am totally with you on this one. Please, let me elaborate:

You write "copy" into the SH3 back-up basic.cfg file. With that do you mean overwrite everything there with the "copy" version?

Should this copy be the "corrected" .cfg file or just the lines I want to have corrected?

Cld I not just correct what is in the Commander back-up file and then make a rollback?

Let me rephrase :

Copy the corrected basic.cfg from sh3\data\cfg and paste it to sh3commander\backup\data\cfg

I hope this is more clear now.
