Default Kapstad or Port Elizabeth?

I am now on the "Passage into the Rising Sun " mission and not sure where I should go to sink enemy merchants to get kills that will count toward my total. Is it south of Kapstad or Port Elizabeth? Or further east past the grey circle that pops up when I click on the Iron Cross icon south of the Cape. I think was given distance of one hundred fifty miles radius for it to count toward my total kills ( is this correct)? Please be specific as to where I should search. Thanks.

Ships sunk within the large gray circle will count towards your campaign - ships sunk within 150km of the orange marker (or grid ref.) will count for the missions.

I know first you have to see the Commander I think he is at the bunker and get a mission first from him. Basicly would select and click on a Iron Cross to get it, then click on the request. Then close out and talk to him again to start a mission, well that is what I have to do.

Mission is were you see the orenge Icon, the grid to patrol is were the orenge icon is at. The grid will be just a box that the icon is sitting in. Patrol that a sink a few to compleate the mission, thats what has been working for me.

I do not know what happends if you go on patrol with out a mission selection. Maybe that is what you did? Got me there...Hope this helps a bit..

I did request the mission. Is the orange box that you are referencing to, the Refuel tanker icon, directly under the Cape of Good Hope?

If it is in a grid box, and says this area to be patroled, I say yeah. I mainly select off the east cost of England. Fuel reasons is one, plus I am not cutting through the English channel to get to the western section.

I wait untill the time comes to be transfered to Brest or some were off the west side of France...

New orange markers will apear after you finish each mission on your way east.
Some of these are patrol/sink a ship missions, others are refuel missions.
You can always just ignor then and head to Penang (your new base)
