Default Very Threatening Chihuahau....

The hell was it going to do? Savage his ankles?! The bullet was probably bigger than the dog!

Total overkill and no pun intended.

Personally I think the neighbor had it in for the dog. Probably barked. Like most dogs.

In before Tribesman.......dog off the lease. He is supposed to be leased. The dog was in attack mod. Gun owner had every right to blow the dog to the next county by current laws. Good day!
Probably did with one shot. I agree with everyone else, the dog would've scratched up the ankles, but that's about it. I agree the shooter had the right, but did indeed over-do it. The whole situation looks bad on us responsible pet owners and gun owners.

Yes but a fence is no barrier to a six inch attack puppy.

Not that I approve of anyone shooting any dog except maybe a rabid one - but I would point out, that those in the field of veterinary medicine (at least in my area) have a nickname for Chihuahua's. They call them, "Land sharks". You wouldn't think it because of their size and cuteness, but they can be aggressive and are prone to biting anyone not their owner. My wife is more on guard around a Chihuahua then most other breeds, excepting perhaps Alaskan Huskies or similar sled dog breeds. They don't give any warning before they bite apparently.

Yes but a size 10 would punt a 7 pound Chihuahau 50 yards! My dog got away once. She was a 60lb terrier. She went bounding towards a neighbor in her usually manner she does. The neighbor, who had a shovel in his had at the time, raised the tool to use on my dog. Of course I shouted she is not attacking do not swing the shovel. The neighbor did not swing the shovel. But a large terrier bounding towards a person who does not know the dog will react in such a manner. Here is the problem with this story. Said neighbor was hanging out in the yard with a gun. What was he waiting for? Is the hood that bad? At any rate, any dog can be aggressive and a biter. If the dog was a 100 Rottweiler I can understand the gun. A Chihuahua? Not so much.

Oh I agree. If it were me, i'd have punted that little dog like a football. Shooting it isn't even in my scope of thinking.

And this is why I question why the gentleman with the artillery was in the backyard? It was in his scope of thinking and premeditated?

EDIT: Oh hell. The incident took place in Detroit. Never mind. The man was packing for obvious reasons.
