Playing GWX on XP and just had my second painful 'Call Bill' corrupted save in a few days. These always seem to happen just after you've had a successful patrol and saved (at sea) in order to re-enter real life. Has anybody ever established how to avoid these?

I can only repeat the advice given by so many on so many occasions....never save whilst submerged or within rendering range of land or any other vessels (approx. 50km).

Thanks guys. Guess I won't save while in the Kiel canal then.

One more piece of advice, do not add/remove any mods while at sea, only between patrols while in your home port. Welcome aboard!

I salvaged one that wouldn't load last night by disabling nearly everything that changed the environment, loading the save, traveling a while then re-saving.
Left the game, re-enabled the mods I took out, reloaded and continued my patrol. Pain in the rear end, but worth it for a good save. I'm now following a policy of keeping a couple of running saves so I wont lose as much should it happen. I also save as soon as I clear datum (>50k, surfaced, clear horizon) after a sinking.
