Default Missing conning towers

Missing conning tower.

Running the US campaign, without any mods, and with mods, I'm experiencing an epidemic of missing conning towers. Is this common and is there a fix for it?

Thanks.

I assume that you mean that you can not get into the conning tower where the soundest and radar are located. Are you able to directly man either station? Are you able to click on the hatch either on the ceiling of the control room or the floor of the bridge to get into the conning tower?

It sounds to me like you have mixed up or missing files some place.

If none of these works I would recommend re-installing the game. Then see that you can get into the conning tower then. After that try installing your mods again one at a time paying close attention to load order.

Yes, I might just have to do a clean install.

It's not that I can't get to the conning tower.

It's just not there. The Narahl is a barge with two deck guns.

The Narwhal is a modded/added sub to SH4.......its not in the stock game, no matter which version of the game you have. If you've got a Narwhal sub with a stock game (no mods activated) you've got big problems!

Follow the instructions for a clean install found HERE in a "Sticky" on this forum page.

Make sure you follow the instructions as read.......especially the part about taking a "Snapshot" of your clean installed game files after adding JSGME. This way you can check your stock game files for any wrong doing after adding/removing mods to the game.

Thanks guys.

I had tried a clean reinstalation before, but kept my game save files. Those must have had corrupted data on them that then corrupted the new game files. Everthing's fine now, all my previous periscope and tower issues have been resolved.

You can just pretend that the conning tower and bridge got blown off and you went to the yard for an over haul and had it rebuilt. One fleet boat have this happen and it was an allied aircraft that had attacked.

Yes indeed, the saved game files gets most folks into trouble when adding/removing mods. The game expects to find the same game files when you replay a saved game point. If you've been shuffling mods in and out and also saving game points in the process, you're asking for trouble every time!

The "SH4" folder, found in the "Documents" folder of your computer (the Documents folder is named differently in the various OS versions) holds your personal option settings and the saved games. Change it like changing your socks! Deleting it will start you over from scratch, but it won't interfere with that new mod you wanted to try. The very least, it gets rid of the old files that will hang a differently modified game.

Yeah I had this too once. Corrupt saved files was to blame.

It woule be nice if the mod enabled had a save function, so you could play a german game with one set of mods and an american game with a different set of mods without having to remember what's what.

There is a save function if you are using JSGME.

Open JSGME. Set your mods as you wish and click TASKS.
Now Click SAVE MOD PROFILE. Name and save it where you wish. Load a new set of mods. TASKS>SAVE MOD PROFILE> name and save that one.
If your loading a German only profile then only those mods will load. Your have saved an allied profile then only the ally mods you enabled in that save will load.

This way you have a very quick reference to load and play as either side without enabling and disabling mods over and over again and having to remember which one had what.

There are certain allied mods that can be installed with Operation Monsoon. Here is my current list of MODS

1 RSRDC_SH15_V550
2 RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
3 OpsMonsun_V705 These first six must be in this order
4 OMv705_to_V720
5 OMv720_Patch5
6 OMEGU_v300
OM_Med_Env
OM_Harder_Escort_L1
Popular German Music From The 30´s
UBM Missions

OM is not compatable with TMO and if you load it with RSRD then you need to load it in this order according to lurker_hlb3

That is brilliant. Thank you so much.

Takes the guess work out of, 'was the TMO or FOTRS'.

How exactly will JSGME know which profile to load though? This sounds very useful but something seems to not have been explained.

1.How do I tell JSGME to load the correct profile? I think I understand how but I am not 100% sure
2.Does the location of the saved profile matter?

I think I figured it out it is quicker but I wish there a nearly instant way to switch different mod profiles around without running that multi SH4 program.

I have made a mod profile one for TMO one for OM but it still takes time to change between the two faster than activating each mod one by one but not much faster. Is there a faster way using just JSGME? I want to be able to play a career in TMO then exit the game disable TMO and then enable OM in around one minute maybe it will be around that speed I have not tried OM which has several more mod than TMO in my case.TMO took about 30 seconds.

You forgot to list OMEGU_v300_Patch7

EDIT: OK I tried and it takes about 3 minutes to load the OM profile not too bad.
