Missing Sounds On Load

I've started getting missing sounds, and text notifications, after loading my game and I'm looking for suggestions on how to avoid it.

It happens about 2 out of 3 times. The best way for me to check is by clicking the Depth Under Keel button which results in the sonar ping sound but no crewman voice or text notification telling me the result. Also, telegraph orders and pretty much all others concerning the boat, without directly talking to the crewman, don't result in crew audio confirmation either. Sound settings are on and triple-checked, along with adjusted-saved-readjusted tinkering. And many sounds do work, just not some crew related stuff. Buggy crew notifications.

I've seen mention of this issue in two threads, after much searching, but there was no certain solution or solid advice other than 'keep reloading until you get one that works'. It was mentioned that this may be a result of changing the settings config file - I changed the default TC on enemy spotted from 8x to 1x and I'd like to keep it that way although setting it to 2x would be the very last resort. Anyone else have some suggestions?

I've recently picked up SH5, since the DRM was reduced to palatable levels, and am getting acquainted with all it's .. quirks.
