Lockerbie bomber Megrahi: 'I didn't harm anyone'

The man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing has claimed his role in the attack was exaggerated, and that "the truth will become clear one day".

In an exclusive interview with Reuters, Abdelbaset al-Megrahi said he hoped "new facts" would be announced "in the near future", but refused to explain further.

At the same time, the case against him really did have a lot of holes in it. I honestly can't judge what his responsibility here is and whether or not he deserved to remain in jail, but it seems like in some ways he was treated as a scapegoat for the sake of closure rather than truth. Much easier to put a guy in jail and close the book on a complicated case than continue searching. Even if he deserved to be there, he couldn't have been the only one.

Wouldnt entirely suprise me if he was not responsible.
Its not such a rare occurance that a 'patsy' goes down for some atrocity or another these days.

@ Joea you know what? the fact that we are so quick to dismiss and ridicule most conspiricy theories has a down side, it actually makes it more plausible for someone to hypothetically get away with pulling one off.

I think there should be a conspiricy that more people should support (or pretend to support) more conspiricy theories (even when they're complete nonsense) at least it keeps the powers that be on their toes... Just in case.
Better safe than sorry I say

Aggh you guys are right. There are real conspiracies out there. You just get used to so many insane ones it becomes a reflex and is not good I know. Kind of like how revisionism in history used to describe the healthy re-examination of history with the passage of time-new facts coming to light etc. Now it has become a dirty word associated with extremism.

If I were to believe any conspiracy I'd believe some of more outlandish were put out by the powers that be to hide the real conspiracy.

Hell everything big works by way of conspiracy here in my country. Even with proofs they will not go down to prison and even with proofs the innocent still goes to prison.

Conspiracy is just how human work together. It can be expected to be common.
