IL2: 1946 Bombs Exploding Height

Ahoy Shipmates and Aces!

I've recently picked up IL2: 1946 and am learning the flight sim through a series of tutorials I found on another website.

However, my problem is, my bombs do not explode! I just flew a mission in which I had to bomb an abandoned Japanese carrier on the coast of Hawaii. I dive bombed it from 10,500 ft. and released the bomb at over 1,000 ft. Even if I had missed, I would have expected to hear it impact but I did not hear anything nor see any smoke.

I also tried doing a quick mission at an altitude of 3000 ft. and dropped some smaller bombs, just to make sure altitude was not the problem, but I still saw no crater/sound/smoke, etc.

Is there a timer/detonator you have to activate before dropping them?
