Sounds like a video card issue. What are your computer specs?

I seem to remember this coming up before with nVidia cards and some of the resolution mods, but I could be wrong. Had something to do with the need for scaling options which newer drivers did not include.

But yeah I'd start looking at the settings for the video card to see if there's something that might need tweaking.

@Von

Assuming your using an nvidia card and win7 try looking at this thread..........

http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-c...2-59hz-30.html

frau is also correct regarding monitor scaling but I'm buggered if I can remember the solution, it could be...

a) use nvidia scaling
b) use nvidia scaling withe fixed aspect ratio
c) use displays built in scaling
d) do not scale

option d seems to ring most bells with me but I'm not 100% sure, sorry. All can be found in nvidia control panel.

I've tried a forum search but can't tip anything up , could be I'm just not refining the search enough, tho I've tried all sorts for a couple hours

Hope these suggestions might give you some clues, good luck shipmate.

On a side note I use driver version 191.07, anything much newer and I get the same problem

Best regards.

I hope it's an easy fix, 'cuz my computer hardware experience is outdated beyond belief.

BTW: Welcome back, von hally.

I had the same problem with my Intel chipset on my laptop. Updated the drivers and it was fixed.

But does it work with the old monitor?

"Cannot initialize 3D engine.."

What kind of cable u use for the connection between gfx-card and monitor?

For resolutions 1920x1080 and higher you need hdmi or dual-dvi.

Since I use dual-dvi cable I am playing SHIII with resfix 1920x 1200 w/o any problems

on my 24 inch monitor. The cable costs me 12 Euro.

Echolot.

PS Works with nv gts250 and amd hd5870.
