Hello Captains,
I watch this game since day one it went out. Even before, when it went gold. Not buy it because of DRM thing. I have permanent Internet connection but refuse to buy a game that have such outrageous requirement. Same with Assassins Creed. Nice game i wanted to play but when in shop i saw that requirement not bought it and wont at all. For Silent Hunter i still have some hope they remove that thing. Lately reading posts i got little bit confused. I can't figure out if DRM had been removed or will be removed soon or it is still there? Can people playing the game tell me if they finally removed that thing or should i continue to wait? Thank you |

The constant connection has been removed. It only needs to ask mom for permission to play at startup now.

It still has DRM just not as bad. Everytime you start the game (the Ubi launcher) it has to phone home and ask mommy if it's ok to play. Once she says yes then the DRM is basically done.

Oh
![]() Then DRM is there in my point of view. Meaning i will wait until they remove it completely. It's ok with me to activate the game after install once. If it asks mommy each time when i start the game DRM is still there and i'm keepeng distance from this game until they remove it if it will be at all relevant by the time they remove it. May be there will be better sub sim at that time. Thanks for letting me know ![]() Spared me from buying the game and then returning it. |

I asked my local games shop for this game. Guy said they returned entire shipment to distributor a long time ago due to high rate of returns and customers choice of different titles due to various reasons (DRM reviews forums etc). So i took a look at Internet for it.
Surprise is an understatement. Check this out: Direct access from Ubisoft store 49 Euro two separate shopping links http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubiemea/en..._Atlantic.html http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubiemea/en..._Atlantic.html Link from official Silent Hunter 5 website to Ubisoft store 19 Euro http://eu-ubisoft.gamesplanet.com/sh...iliate=ubishop Amazon sells the game CD for 5 US Dollars ($4.60) and download version for 15 US Dollars ($14.99) http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...ter+5&x=7&y=21 Now tell me what these gentleman at Ubisoft think doing something like that. Publisher price higher then free market price with 3 different price tags for same product at same shop? Among normal people things like that have a name. I have a strong feeling that unless Ubisoft changes it's policies we wont be hearing about them in a few years due to bankraupcy or a complete shift to minor publisher for consoles. I can't even begin to imagine how developers must be feeling. They created the game, which is really not bad one with great graphics and a lot of innovation and creative thinking. Must be very interesting to play. But thanks to publisher game got bashed by reviews, consumers voted negative with their wallets and sure thing publisher went to developers complaining about decisions publisher made. Must be a nightmare for development team. Last edited by firefox; 07-03-11 at 09:57 AM. |
