And Lombard Street, at high speed.

Um, that's about 1000 km out of his way.

Even alone it would be a two-day side trip, just to see an aquatic amusement park.

I agree with it, but the park is cool

Last year we took the kids to Disneyland and took the Surfliner down to SD, so we did SD last year

The fleet boat was top on MY list already

We have a 4.5 YO and a 7 YO, so we're sorta limited food wise to places that you'd wanna go with a 4 YO (we eat out rather more than we should, so the kids are actually pretty good in restaurants).

I'm always keen on local foodie places.

Just across the Bay Bridge, you'll find the USS Hornet and the Alameda Naval Air Museum.

If you are a record collector, check out Amoebia records, specialized on indie records, but also tons of used stuff for reasonable prices from all music genres - though it's better to check them out on your own as they are located on Haight Street, not really kid's environment...

Don't miss the Ferry Market then. It's a farmer's market/food court type thing with all local foods. I had one of the best sandwiches of my life there - local salami with local butter and cornichons on fresh baked sourdough. Simple but so good.

Nice. Thanks!

My wife's cousin just moved back to Greenwich Village from Lombard St. in SF, and she's been sending us "hole in the wall" places to try that she thinks are not too fancy for little kids.

I knew about Hornet, I was gonna try that as well (though we've been on Intrepid many times (my father in law was surgeon on her), another Essex Class is still cool)).

Americans think 200 years is a long time.

Europeans think 200 miles is a long drive.

Point in case, (sorry bout OT): Dating a girl who had many relatives from Wales and England. Her uncle and family came over here (Cleveland), and as we're all sitting around at dinner, he asks "hey, maybe we could go see the Grand Canyon tomorrow?"

EDIT: Sorry I have no info on San Fran, just thought I'd share that anecdote.

Last i checked (maybe about 6 or 8 months ago), they were up to 80 dollars for one adult ticket. That place isn't worth that kind of dough.
