I hear that people stand around and watch car crashes too.

They say the Fire Chief estimated the crowds at 60K. Is this like McCain's get together in Virginia where they made a similar claim....only to be told that the Fire Chiefs don't do that?

Anyone see the Couric interview? I almost felt sorry for her

Quote:
COURIC: You've said, quote, "John McCain will reform the way Wall Street does business." Other than supporting stricter regulations of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac two years ago, can you give us any more example of his leading the charge for more oversight?
PALIN: I think that the example that you just cited, with his warnings two years ago about Fannie and Freddie--that, that's paramount. That's more than a heck of a lot of other senators and representatives did for us.
COURIC: But he's been in Congress for 26 years. He's been chairman of the powerful Commerce Committee. And he has almost always sided with less regulation, not more.
PALIN: He's also known as the maverick though. Taking shots from his own party, and certainly taking shots from the other party. Trying to get people to understand what he's been talking about--the need to reform government.
COURIC: I'm just going to ask you one more time, not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation?
PALIN: I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you.

ALmost

I think maybe John suspended the campaign just to take the focus off of this :p

One would think that a VP candidate would be given a crib sheet on the Presidential candidate.

Most embarrassing.

That's what Letterman thought when he referred to Palin's running mate Senator McCain last night: http://www.jossip.com/john-mccain-en...-own-20080925/

Hardly anybody watches Couric anyway. :p Even so, this hack interview doesn't prove anything.

Perhaps, or not. Regardless, the fact that, ever since her announcement as the Vice-Presidential candidate, the campaign has kept her on a very short leash and has, generally, not permitted her to be interviewed is a very telling sign that Governor Palin may not be the sharpest of knives. This may be further evidenced by the fact that she generally causes embarassment every time she opens her mouth. Frankly, I'd keep her away from the press too, especially has her immediate charms have begun to have worn off since the convention. Seems that McCain bought himself a lemon.

Also, I wouldn't read too much into rally attendance. Rallies for either candidate are only attended by the most fanatical of party supporters. These people would vote for their affiliated party regardless of who was running. Of course they are going to be shouting, waving banners and generally acting like lunatics. They are hardly indicators of popularity.

Perhaps Obama should learn from McCain and keep Joe Biden on a short leash so he can quit stepping in it every time he opens his mouth, too

Perhaps. And so the Vice-Presidential nominee race boils down to a choice between a ranking Senator from Delaware who gives ridiculous answers to questions and the Governor of Alaska who can't answer the questions at all. Which one were you voting for again?

Whereas you feel the need to enlarge the font to try and make sure that we see your point, right?

There is no Vice-Presidential nominee race. It's a take it or leave it proposition. Besides, being a ranking Senator from Delaware is not necessarily an asset

True ... all of the above is true, but why is the campaign being run in this manner?

Because John McCain is shrewd and wants to win
