Please by all means post a SMALL thought or opinion.

Please no ESSAYS.

Jokes aside, for open source software I buy or download (I have bought in the past several retail linux distributions, suse 8 professional, some flavors of slackware etc...), it doesn't make a very great difference.
For closed source software the situation is a little bit more complex, generally I buy the retail product and then apply drm-free patches if they are available otherwise I don't buy it.
On the other hand I stay miles away from any kind of download system, I like owning the product when all is said and done.

if it's a game i love i buy cause it allows longer use and in general games on physic supports don't require activations which can be personnaly i never had some but i've seen on forums sometimes it can be at the origin of prematurate hair falls

Unless they are only charging $5 for something, buy don't download. 10 years from now when you want to replay something for nostolgia's sake, you do not have to worry if a company is still in biz or if they even have a server online.
