Default Female hero pulled from forward base in Afghanistan

The Army pulled one of the only female Silver Star winners out of forward base due to old army Regs.

Not really. It's impossible to do anymore. There is no front line. If they strictly enforced it there wouldn't be any females in either theater. Times have changed. That rule has been around a lot longer than 92 though. The real deal is they didn't want a female silver star winner to risk getting wounded or killed. That would be bad publicity.

I agree it would be awful.

Thought that way myself. Killing a known silver star medallist would be a PR stunt for the Taleban, but trying to kill a female silver star medallist probably would be a somewhat mandatory like they also said they would try to pick and kill Prince Harry. fenales wearing uniforms and weapons and fightign and being allowed to kill males pretty much is still a provocation in certain parts of the patriarchalic tribal world. If you really want to demoralise the enemy - send an all-female batallion against them and make sure the girls will win!

I think a special forces trained female team would be a real demoralizer against a Taliban force. Maybe I'll zip an email to Sec Gates with the idea.

I don't think women should be in combat at all. For multiple reasons no less. The biggest is the rape factor of captured women.

You mean: a platoon of cloned Ripleys?

I would go even further and say that women should not serve in the military at all.

I really don't mind women in combat. As long as they were made eligible to be drafted.

If it weren't for females in the military we would have the draft. Females are over 20% of our strength. There is no line anymore in the battle area. The war will always be around you. You don't want females in combat today means you don't want females in the military.
