Default OLCGUI speed calc

Question on using the OLC speed check. You start the stop watch at when the center of periscope hits the front of the ship. Stop it when it hits the back end of the ship. However, does this work at zoomx6 or at normal zoom?

Gives different results for both.

it shouldn't, but i suppose small errors in measurement will be increased at low power.

So it should, theoretically, work for both magnifications? Or does it have to be at a specific mag?

It always seems to give a low speed reading when I try it at 6x mag. Gotta admit, the times I've used it, I haven't tried at normal mag.

I'm thinking the speed is low cuz it usually gives 6 kts for the merchants, my torps always hit the back if I'm close, or miss to the behind if I'm ~1000 m away.

magnification should not be a factor.

also the biggest distortion on the measurement is your own forward motion. this tends to have the effect of slightly reducing the apparent target speed.

therefore in general it is better to round your result up.

you can get the latest olcgui from the first post of the olcgui threads.
