Default SH3 no longer recognizes enemy!

For each of my last two careers in GWX2.0, every vessel sunk was listed as neutral on exiting the game, even when every vessel sunk carried a British flag. Prior to this, all was fine.

Tonight I uninstalled the entire game, and deleted all folders, mods, and SH3commander 2.7, in preparation for install of GWX2.1 and SH3Commander 3.

After re-installing SH3 and 1.4b, I ran the Barlow mission, just to satisfy myself that the game was operating properly before further install.
I sank the Barlow, exited the game, and found the the sinking again listed as a neutral vessel!
So the fault could not have been with GWX2.0 (which as I say, ran fine previously). For whatever reason, SH3 will no longer recognize vessels as enemy on my computer.

Any help that anyone can provide toward resolving this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm... now this might be a long shot indeed, but at least in the campaign mode you now begin your career during August 1939, i.e. before the war started. So maybe the game now defaults to this regardless of whether it's a campaign or a single mission you're playing? Would at any rate explain what you're seeing there...

When I first started playing SH3 I thought the same. Presumably you are referring to the summary screen when you save and exit? The trick is to count the lines from the bottom upwards and you will see that you have actually sunk Allied ships. For some strange reason when you glance at this summary screen the impression given is that you have sunk neutrals when in fact you have sunk Allied ships. It's to do with the lines not looking as though they line up properly, if that makes sense.

That's very likely the problem

Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with the lines not lining up. I've counted the lines and even held a ruler against the screen to check this.

It is actually registering all sinkings as neutral vessels.

Just prior to this first occuring, I had one of those "Silent Hunter has encountered a problem and needs to close" messages when starting a game from the last save point .... every career started after that has registered all sunk vessels as neutral.

The real surprise was seeing it do the same thing in stock, after re-installing.

I will try one more fresh installation tonight. Pray for me!

Possible your defside cfg has gone south
Thats the file that tells the game who is Axis and Allied at any given date

Tis in the Roster folder

Though a reinstall should have solved that issue

That could very well be the case, and if it (shudder!) ever happens again I'll know where to look! Thankyou!

I very happily report that GWX2.1 is installed and all is back to normal
The armed tugboat sunk southwest of Long Island registered as enemy.
(I also note with satisfaction the 48 stars on the flag! Such attention to detail!)

Is your renown being registered as negative?

If you sink a neutral ship it's about -5000. If an enemy ship it will be positive.
