A damn good read.
My in-laws brought me "Poznat Sebya v Boiu" - "Discover Yourself in Battle", by Alexander Pokryshkin, it's in Russian but one interesting book. Throws quite a lot of light on the whole mentality of the Soviet VVS and the amount of hassle he had with party brown nosers.
If I find some good passages I'll translate them and post them here.
