[REL] Clayp's Optics for SH4 1.4 ONLY

The mod was made for a long time member of the SubSim community who was born about the time of the war. He, like me (an “early” baby boomer), has trouble seeing the images the stock SH4 offers. When he asked for help I tried to incorporate as many visual aids into this modification as I could in the hope to provide a better game experience.

This modification is in two different versions, one for a "stock" SH4 game patched only to the 1.4. The other version is compatible to the Real Fleet Boat (RFB) 1.4 (which was made for only a 1.4 patched game).


What is changed?

The mod magnifies 4 system views for ease of use and just for fun.

1. The Periscope and Observation scopes now have an additional zoom level (a total of 3 magnifications, stock game has 2).
1st level is increased by 100% over stock
2nd level is the same as the stock max level
3rd level is increased by 100% over stock max level

2. TBT image was increased by 15% to make it approximately the same magnification as the Periscope new max level

3. The Binocular image now has 2 magnifications. Use the mouse wheel or Tab key when on the bridge to use the Binoculars. The first setting is the same as the stock Binoculars at 7x, the second will increase the magnification by approximately 150% over stock about 18x. Reversing the zoom level takes you back to the standard Bridge view.

4. The Deck Gun station has 3 stock zoom levels
1st level the same as stock
2nd level increased by 100% over stocks 2nd level
3rd level increased by 100% over stocks 3rd max level

There are other image and graphics changes. In the RFB version several additional changes were made to correct some of the problems the mod has (like the map screen not stabilizing during movement on the various zoom levels). Please read the documentation for details.


The downloads are fairly large so give it some time to complete.
