A new interesting moving map software is in final beta testing, it might be of interest for you if wanting to fly in germany, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium - for these they currently have the licences for the according national VFR maps. Additonal maps from the internet can be imported. This thread is mostly in German, but if features several huge screenshots, that allow you to get an impression of the very high quality of map picturing.

When it's a paper one yup, that's correct, it is indeed a chart, but every pilot I know calls a GPS display with mapping facilities 'the moving map display'.
