a tightness in the throat, hoping for external reserves
hi hunters,
at the moment they're sinkin' like stones, close quarters action; two flowers are circling and am running low on battery life, so i chance a surface to periscope swinging round all the time onto a flower that circles for attack, the other is making a run from the rear; no eels in that area, so i concentrate on the one in front, and as he turns i get his beam and BANGO !! one magnetic across 20 seconds; i dont hang around and crash dive just in time, woooaahh !! my team scream, then go slient as we slip away... he sleeps with the fishes now... anyway, what happens with the external reserves, how do i load or are they for show. do i have to surface; cause if they are there i'm gonna need 'em greetings from the deep flag4 |

Service the boat and secure from silent running. Then in the weapons screen drag the external torp to an internal spot.

Yup, you need to be surfaced in order to use the external reserves.

hi, and thanks for getting back
i have surfaced and tried to drag torp to vacant slot but no luck - secured from silent running too. i'm wondering if i have to have crew stationed somewhere for it to take effect? or a certain rank like petty officer...? things have cooled off at present so i'm just cruising around charging up resting crew and feeling a little smug with myself ! flag4 |

You do need crew in the torpedo room you are trying to reload. AFAIK one will do but the more you have, the quicker it goes.
Also, probably to state the obvious, stern eternal trops can only go in the stern torpedo room and bow externals only in the bow room. |

i've done it now gentlemen, thank you :-
had to click on TDC click on empty tube. full crew - lively like... then click on torp. it took two hours to do two torps. they have to be moved - about 40-45 mins then loaded 15-20 mins. i'm in the north Irish Sea, so i slipped under goodly down, then set all hands on, engines to stop too - can not drag torps to empty slot they just bounce back. cheers flag4 |
