Default Help - New Radeon drivers ?????

Hi, I purchased a new ATI Radeon X1950 card & seemed to run ok with supplied catalyst drivers, and tray tools (don't like .net or ccc), I then installed the latest drivers & now the system is in slow motion or something!! If I right click on desktop the dialog box very slowly fades in, if I close an application the desktop screen clears black twice!! I then tried an older version but still the same, swicthed off waited 30 seconds then on, still the same. Could someone please offer some advise hear please?
Many thanks,
Reece.

PS. even moving down lines in this forum moves in slow motion!

Uninstall all ATI and all proprietary drivers that came with your card. What you may have is a conflict between the supplied drivers and the ATI drivers.

There is also a tool to make sure every last known ATI driver detail is gone from your system too. I'll see if I can find it.

Here you go: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1275

Run that if you need to (don't run it if you don't need to).

Make sure anything ATI related is gone from your system, then simply reload the latest drivers and you should be good to go.

By the way, the first screen that comes up should be slow for a sec, but I think that is because the drivers are initializing for the first time. After the first 5 seconds, then it should move instantly quick. Maybe your driverrs got stuck in the initializing phase? Just a theory, but its the best I can come up with at 7:22 AM on a Saturday! Still half asleep.

Thanks Subman1, I'll give it a go, by the way thanks for the advise on choosing an X1950 card, the one I purchased is a HIS ATI Radeon X1950 IceQ 512mb turbo pro & I believe this is the fastest card available for my old AGP, certainly seems to go well on 3DMark05, however I seem to be having some 3d issues with Far Cry on some user created levels now, put that down to "user created"!
Will hit the sack now (12.30 am) & try tomorrow.
Cheers.

After removing all ATI apps & register entries I installed 8.401.0 drivers, ended up with no desktop icons even after a refresh, but then after rebooting all was ok, Thanks!
