They are there, but the mine density is amazingly low. If the density were realistic you'd not be going near many ports.

Default Mine fields

I have been in Tokyo harbour many times without minefields.

What do I have to do to show them.

What ports are they are..

I was raising my periscope awhile back and caught a glimspe of something strange in the water ahead. It made me jump in my seat. I pounded Back Full and sure enough, my fears were correct. It was a tethered mine right in front of me and I just happened to get lucky in my up/down periscope searches for the nearby vessels I could hear on sonar.

However, I didn't see another on my ingress/egress of the port that time so, yeah, the density isn't too high.

plenty around Truk... I'm shadowing a task force and keep running into them with very bad results.

If you look at the paper map that comes with the game it'll tell you where the mines SHOULD be, but I usually come across nets before mines.

Default Mines Are There

I was sunk by one off Kobe, I was dodging a DD and got out of the main channel, too close to shore and boom. All Dead.

If you stand off truk you should be fine. Sneaking in, OTOH. The density is orders of magnitude higher than anywhere in the stock game. I thought in terms of how many per sub length.

Default Truk

I raised my scope a bit to try and nav. around them... but they're deadly. Even several yards away they will end your day.

I think I've come across 1 and I mean 1 lol. I was chasing down a convoy (cant remeber where) and I came about 10 feet away from hitting one of those sneaky bastards.
