Good post rob.

I can't imagine Neal and his SubSim members not supporting this very important public annoucement.

Our membership is worldwide. What a proud moment it would be if one of our members led to the recovery of that little girl.

Were Worldwide ... it could happen.

Indeed, Rob... we are certainly stronger together than we are individually.

And thanks to whomever it was who removed the offensive post as well.

I think it is inappropriate for this site. I come on here for information about Silent Hunter 3 not to be bullied into support for a tabloid newspaper campaign. I have every sympathy for the girl's parents but it needs to be stressed that young children go missing every day around the world. Just because the media have picked up on this for whatever reason doesn't make this girl's plight any more important than others. I have received viral emails asking me to pass the contents to every person I know. What purpose does this serve to the police investigation? I just believe that this case has turned into a media circus and individuals have jumped on the bandwagon without looking into the wider issues of the case. I'll probably be castigated by certain people for this but I'd rather stick to ways of sinking more ships in an excellent u-boat simulation.

You have all the right in the world to have your opinions, mate. And noone can take that away from you. I respect your opinion on this, totally, but i ask for your understanding that Subsim is a wide community, with a lot of different people sharing common interest. Many of the members here are parents themself (some even grandparents!) and this special case with Maddie touches us all in a special way. You are probably right on the media circus thing, but as long as it puts the focus on preventing further child kidnappings & abuse, i think we need all the watch crews that are available on duty in the conning tower.

Never surrender, Maddy. The world gets smaller with every passing minute... and harder for evil to hide in. Lots of good people are looking for you, sweetheart. All you have to do is tie a knot and hang on.

I have to say, I agree with pretty much everything you said. And I am disgusted by how the celebrities use all this media attention. Like where Beckham pleads to help in the search, yeh right. As soon as he leaves the studio, he doesnt even remember who Maddie is.

As for Maddie, it's unfortunate what happened to her, but it's unavoidable.

Yes, I am a cold person. I blame the media, reading once of a missing child get's me to feel sympathy. But when I have to read about it day after day after day, in the end, I seriously couldnt care less who the missing person is or what has happened to him/her.

I have read everything there is on the internet about this subject, and I have to say that "Yes, you are a cold person". You have NO HEART. You have the same attitude as others who have published opinions on Yahoo.

The more people that there are looking for her, the better chance for her being found. If you don't like reading about it in the newspapers, then don't read the newspapers.

When I posted this, I figured there would be those that don't care whether she is found or not.

If you feel that this thread is wrong, you are welcome to your opinion.

If you look at EVERYTHING in a newspaper, you will notice that they repeat stories and updates on stories, because that is what sells newspapers, but it is also a medium for notifying the general public how things are progressing.

If the media writes stories about child 'napers, murders and rapists and those who use children against their will in making pornography it is keeping the public aware. If a pedofile moves into your neighbourhood, wouldn't you like to know??

Perhaps it is inappropriate for the story to be posted here, but it informs people in various areas, including Portugal.

Yes, I too disagree regarding the mass media of the publishing of Maddie's pictures, as it informs the kidnappers, and they are likely to leave the area.

Sure, this may sound two-sided, but that's the way life is.

It is a sad story that everyone hopes will come to a happy ending.

Sorry for your disapproval.

Neal, if you feel this is post does not deserve to be here, I will understand if it is removed. I just thought that the more people in the areas concerned knew about it, it might help.

Rob
