Relax a bit, I am sure that modders will flesh out the R. Manual as time goes on , as far as your Vista problem, I came across this post:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...23&postcount=3

If it does not make any sense, maybe PM the lad who posted it, may have more to offer you.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Good Hunting

If your referring to the JSGME mod enabler you would be better off browsing there forums and the "readme" that came with the enabler.

You did install it in the proper game directory right ?

No offence mate but you'll have to modify your language a bit. Its not too cool to post blaming the mod enabler for not working when its a very solid piece of code and has been used here for the last, well, year or two.

Please post the issues you're encountering, try with only one mod, does that work ? If not then post the symptoms and we'll all help you find the cure.

Cheers,....

I've just started using JSGME after a fresh install and after previously copying and pasting mod files into my Data folder and I can confidently say that JSGME is the absolute mutts as a bit of kit. I have had a few issues where I had placed a mod into the Mods folder and they hadn't worked but on closer inspection the folder layering had been wrong.

As long as the mod that you place into the JSGME mods folder is along the lines of "Mod name/Data/mod files" you should be OK. Also, be aware that some mods will overwrite others when you enable them.

I'm running Vista along with the Mod Enabler and it works great for me. If you are not aware, there is a new version out. If you still encounter problems, as was earlier stated, the readme may help you.

Did you check out that first post of mine? Maybe your issues are related to Vista regarding JSGME, maybe PM that lad in the link I posted

Built a new computer a few months back, avoided Vista for these type of reasons, but that said, others have ran SH4 on it with no problems.

Indeed. From the latest JSGME Help file...

Quote:
- MICROSOFT VISTA USERS: If you are running the Generic Mod Enabler on Vista and are having problems with mods "taking" (the usual symptom is that the MODS folder itself is not created when the Generic Mod Enabler is first run), then simply right-click JSGME.exe in Windows Explorer and select "Run as Administrator". Alternatively, right-click JSGME.exe and select "Properties". In the properties window select the "Compatibility" tab and check "Run this program in compatibility mode" and in the box below select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". In some instances you may need to apply both solutions.
(disable any enabled mods first before following the above.)

Then make sure that your mods are in the format "MOD NAME\data\etc", as Mudrik states. Many mods don't work because they are either incorrectly zipped or incorrectly extracted into a structure of "MOD NAME\MOD NAME\data\etc". For non-Vista users this is the biggest problem to worry about.

Just like to add a small thing. In order for the mod folder to appear, I had to hit the JSGME.exe once. Not the installer but the actual .exe that appears in the SH4 folder after the install. This might have been mentioned before or its simply how it works, but just in case

A verry hapy JSGME/VISTA user.

ok looking at the folders of the mod installed i finally understood why it didnt wotk. it was not installed in the root SH4 directory. it was installed under another folder in SH4 root. so it created the data/blah/blah/blah under that folder and not in the SH4 itself. thnx guys for ur help.
