GWX crash when restarting SHIII
Okay, I've got SHIII patched to 1.4b, installed GWX.
I enable the 16km mod in JSGME, poke around in SH3 Commander 2.7 but don't change anything. Launch SHIII, start a new career, blast a few ships, save and go to bed. Come back the next day, start SHIII and crash after the initial movies. Restart computer, start SHIII, crash. Okay, uninstall SHIII, Commander, delete directories, including the My Documents SHIII directory, and reinstall everything. Fire up SHIII, works again, start a new career, have fun, save and quit. Come back next day, CTD after the initial movies. Curse a few times, check these forums, and reinstall eveything. Launch SHIII after initial install and 1.4b patch. Install GWX, launch SHIII, start new career, save and quit. Come back, start SHIII, and CTD after movies. Windows crash log had this: AppName: sh3.exe AppVer: 1.4.0.1 ModName: filemanager.dll ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00004432 Any ideas on why the game works, and then doesn't? Thanks. |

Try installing GWX's december fix's (IE patch) if you haven't already done so.

Your computer is broke--BUT, I'm willing to take it off of your hands
![]() Seriously, you might just want to try a reinstall (I know, this takes up time and isn't very fun). Clean all SH3 "stuff" off of your drive, defrag, and try again. It could just be a corrupt file. Also, if you're using SH3 commander, make sure that you've installed the GWX files that you need to properly run the program with GWX. Good luck. Software problems, and all computer problems for that matter, drain my life force from me ![]() J |

Also, you never stated what conditions you are saveing under.
Follow the Golden Rules about saveing in SH3 as there are bugs!!! |

Do you use MultiSH3? That makes changes to the filemanager.dll file, but I have never heard anyone have any problems with that. And don´t use the 16km mod if your hardware is on the low end of the SHIII system requirements.

Disable all mods in JSGME.....install Dec 23rd update using JSGME....then enable 16km mod and whatever other mod takes your fancy

:hmm: Happens when the game is playing the movies
You could try to delete the 2 Movie files in the SH3 folder (then when u start the game it is dirrectly at the loading screen) as because I,m currently at work I cant take a look what the exact location is. good luck

Sorry if this has since been fixed, this was the most relevant post I could find to my problem. Yes its me again, still having some techinical issues. So to briefly recap, I've been having crashing problems on GWX (any version pretty much, but specifically 1.2). I have tried everything to fix this, even using a different operating system, still it crashes. Finally the obvious hits me, it isnt just that the game crashes, but it always crashes when I save in-game and then try to load it later. So long as I do a complete patrol every time I play, there are no crashes, but as soon as I save in game there and then load later there are problems. So I know I've heard people talk about the "save game crash bug" associate with SH3 many times, but I havent seen anyone actually present a fix or workaround for it. So is there one? For the record, I always save while surfaced as I have read saving while submerged can cause some weirdness. Thanks everyone!!!
