Does AI subs always use TA?

Does the AI subs always use the towed array...even in (very) shallow waters?
If so, would it be an option to disable towed arrays in the doctrines in those environments?

It depends on the depth the TA is set to in the database. If it's "underground" at the time, it won't be working.
