Default Two mod questions from early SH5 player

Hey so I used to play SH5 when it was released.
Back when I played there were two things more or less that bugged me about the game so I put it down.

So here goes:

Was the "sub on the bottom" bug ever fixed/worked around? Basically you can't touch the ocean floor because of god knows why. You hit an invisible shield instead.

Are coastal vessels/sailboats/sloops/schooners modded into any campaigns? It's a feature I really loved in GWX.

Related to above, I know TDW was working on a program to enable us to mod in new ships... Did that endeavor ever bear fruit?

Related to above, is TDW overdue, presumed lost/ on eternal patrol? Did he leave without saying anything or did he make a statement on leaving? Did he release his mods from copywrite?

I have the exact same questions after reinstalling SH5 today.

Why is this so important? I don't see any problems here as long as you don't decide to take some cool screenshots of sub laying on the bottom, which is totally irrelevant for realistic gameplay. What's more important is that sub will actually take damage by hitting bottom . It is also important to know that , if you're laying on the bottom while crew struggling to stop flooding, do not use TC more then x4...
