I am currently sorting through my duplicate AFCADs in FS9 using ScanAFD and I'm wondering what info I should be looking for when choosing the best AFCAD.
I know for a start I should pick the ones with the most gates and spawn areas for various sizes of aircraft. But, when I view the details of each AFCAD I see that some AFCADs have Airlines listed. Should I be weighing this in my decision when choosing between multiple AFCADs? or are the airlines listed just notes added by the creator that serve no real function? (other than to let you know what airlines should be at the airport) Example: On the left is an AFCAD airport without airline carriers listed and on the right is an AFCAD with airlines listed. Does this mean the right one is organized by company where the left one isn't? or does this listing serve no real purpose other than describe what should be at the airport? ![]() The left one looks like the one I should keep since it holds more aircraft. But, I am confused one whether or not I should consider the Airline information as well. Will the right Airport be more organized as far as company parking than the right? or will they both be organized by company? Last edited by Tikigod; 10-14-07 at 02:57 AM. |

Can't say I've ever messed around with AFCADs myself, although I do know there are several freebie programs for tweeking them on the file library at avsim.com, so maybe that's worth a look, and possibly a look on their forums might give you an answer too.

The ones with airline codes will have your AI planes park at the right gate, if they have the airline code in their aircraft.cfg.
Like this: atc_parking_codes=PIE USAX And the parking code Like this: atc_parking_types=gate,ramp

Cool thanks! So, it is better to pick the AFCAD with airlines listed (if I want them organized by company at gates) than it is to use the one without...I was afraid of that...
Its seems like alot of AFCADs aren't organized by airline then. ![]() Project AI's look like the best ones out there. I have both Project AI and Ultimate Traffic's AFCADs. Do you know of any other good sites for AFCAD collections? Quote:

AVSIM Online has 2722 AFCAD files for FS9 at the moment. Only 137 for FSX.
If you do not want planes parked inside buildings etc. you should check them before making your choice. It´s a time consuming work, but you get to go to airports you probably never would have visited otherwise.
