Dear Friends: Five years ago I had stopped using Silent Hunter, and I made the mistake of forgetting the reason for it. I reinstalled the game and used it, and gradually remembered why I had done it. With little experience in Silent Hunter 4, I entered the Battle of Samar with an American "Cat"-class submarine, and to my total surprise managed to sink 2 battleships, 1 heavy cruiser and 2 destroyers, with the sole consequence of being chased for some time by two escort ships, without too much thirst for revenge. I ended the mission because I run out of torpedoes. It wasn't the only successful American mission I tried, so excited about my success I moved on to the Kriegsmarine side and started testing the German missions added by MOD for SH4. Each one I tried had a similar result, with a lot of work and hardly managed to sink a ship, or perhaps none and ended up pursued by half a dozen destroyers. The result was that tired of the endless persecution he left the game, when that German voice repeated as a scratched record: "We have herr Kaleun damage."
Then I realized how rigged this game is in which only those who were victorious at the end of the contest win. The Americans are the successful heroes, and the Japanese are the usual losers, so it's so easy to sink the Japanese fleet. The same goes for the Germans, beyond the superiority in size and firepower of American submarines, the U-Boats were not as ineffective, much less. The problem is, the Germans were the other losers in the war. Those who designed the game are neither neutral nor objective, otherwise as explained by the vast majority of U-Boat missions starting from 1943 onwards. There are not the happy times of the first half of 1942 off the coast of the United States and the Caribbean, let alone the successful era of the grey wolves of 1940 and 1941. It's like trying to play poker with whom you use marked cards. I don't play like that. Best regards.
