Very easy actually,

you open up the Full mission editor
click Load
browse the folders where the mission is located
when loaded

you can click on a existing Aircraft on the map and change the aircraft type to the P38L
there is no need to change anything more then that , as the mission and its waypoints will not be affected. you only will be flying a different airplane.
