Your map (as it says) shows new daily deaths, not the total. You can also see that the US is marked redder than Finland in that very map.

Well that is very laudable but it's certainly not matched by most of your more centralized and traveled European brethren. Italy, Spain, the UK, Belgium, France and a bunch of other NHS countries all have a higher per million death rate than we do.
