Six of the seven they planted back in 1902 were blown down, I remember that making local news. It was a breezy night! I slept through it all!
I dunno about Ashford moving Val, I think since we've left (It's been 20 years for me) Ashford and most of Western Kent has been assimilated by London. Still, there are still some nice places I imagine, I reckon Trottiscliffe wouldn't have changed much, I think time stood still in that little village.
