Here is a fix for your problem!

All you have to do is cut and paste the original sh5.exe from the Silent Hunter 5 main game folder someplace convient. My install path for SH5 then was C:/Ubisoft/games/Silent Hunter 5. I cut and pasted it to C:/Ubisoft/games. I then installed THEBERBSTERS sh5.exe and extracted it to C:/Ubisoft/games/Silent Hunter 5.
