I wanted to convert some of the stock SC missions to DW. I thought this would help me get up to speed on some of the differences in the game between SC & SCX subs and DW & DW-LWAMI subs.

So, I see that I must do the following:

(1) Rename the mission from *.mc to *. mu.
(2) Load the SC mission into the DW Mission Editor.
(3) Save the mission.

I have noticed all SC goals end up appearing in the DW status screen. I think in SC only the critical goals or ones with points would appear. It seem that the solution to this is to change DW triggers from "goal" to "event". Correct?

I assume that if I am not interested in making the migrated mission pretty that all these extra status items will have no impact and the mission will still run properly, correct?

Aside from this one matter of triggers is there anything else I need to keep in mind when converting SC missions to DW?

Thanks.

You are correct about all goals being shown, changing them to events is the answer.

For converting stock SC missions to DW, the only 'gotcha' is that DW's doctrine choices (in the goals dialog) doesn't have all of the options that are in SC. There are some things you can't do any longer, such as checking to see if the player raises the radio mast.

Otherwise, they convert ok.

If you try converting an SCX mission (with new units) into DW, the mission will convert but you'll have 'unknown' units on the editor's map. You'll have to change the unknowns to one of the DW unit types. For example, if the SCX mission has a Sturgeon SSN, you will need to change it to an LA or other sub when you do the conversion.
